Saying Goodbye to the Pacifier?

With the new baby coming, a 2nd birthday right around the corner, and fear that my child will be 3 years old with a pacifier hanging out of his mouth has brought me to the realization that it is time to say good bye. We are down to our last pacifier and I thought this would be a perfect time to attempt to get rid of it! Kennan sleeps with his "bobu" every nap and night time. He is only allowed to have it when in bed, on long car rides, or on the airplane. I am not sure if I should be feeling concern or excitement right now...Is he going to sleep? How cool will it be to get rid of the thing?...I am hoping this will be an easy process without too much emotion! Anyone out there have any tips?

On another note, here are some pictures of my silly boy.

I have no personal advice. Hudson NEVER would take a pacifier or a bottle. Even though I tried every single kind out there he would not take any of them. (He was a breast and only breast baby). I was always so jealous of the mommys who could stick a pacifier in their babies mouth during church, or just any time they were getting fussy. BUT now I can say that I am not jealous of the battle of weaning off of it. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

I have heard one person say that you can put the paci under their pillow and it goes to the paci fairy so she can give it to the other babies who need one. (I am not sure the age of the child they were trying to wean). Also their is the cold turkey aproach. I have heard there are like anywhere from a day to a week of bad moments, but after that it was like they never had it at all.

Good luck!! I will try the paci again with this baby too. Who knows if she will be like her brother. Let me know how it ends up working out for you!

I think "Super Nanny" (love that show) would be in favor of the cold turkey approach. Hope it goes well.

I'm glad you guys are "keeping it real" by giving him the Spider-man outfit!
