Just for Fun!

So after being Debbie Downer in my last post...I thought this would be fun!
(Today I am feeling thankful for Snapfish and being able to recover 600+ pictures from it last night!!!!)

Kennan Joshua at 6 weeks...

Do you see a family resemblance???

When it Rains it Pours...

Updated:
After posting this I went to Snapfish and found some old albums I had uploaded to their site. That will help a lot! And I am aware that we can find someone to recover our files (maybe) but it will probably cost an arm and a leg. And we don't have any spare arm and legs around here...see below! :)

Original Post:

In the last 3 weeks...

Our Nikon D50 was stolen.

Hubby misplaced his 6 week old iPhone.

Our external hard drive with 4 years of pictures crashed.

And this is the least of our worries...hubby just walked in after mowing and said our weed eater/edger broke.

I'm not sure if it could get much worse. I have to remind myself these are all material things...some of which can be replaced.

It just isn't that easy.

3, 2, 1...Blast Off!!

Kennan's Birthday party request this year was for a space party...not sure where he got the idea because he really isn't that into space. But, we took it and ran with it. I think he had a "blast" and it was "out of this world"!!

6 Weeks Old!

Grayson Benjamin is 6 weeks old today!

We've said goodbye to newborn clothes and diapers...
hello 0-3 month clothes and size 1 diapers!
Grayson is such a laid back and easy going little man. He hardly ever cries...he has to be pretty upset! If you were to come to our house at pretty much any time of the day you would find him in his bouncy seat asleep or keeping his eye on Kennan and Brayden. He sleeps pretty well at night, only waking up once to eat. He likes his pacifier sometimes but isn't dependent on it like his big brother and sister were at this age.
At this point I am thinking he looks a lot like Kennan did at this age. But he also has some of his sister's characteristics. Not sure about his weight and length as he doesn't go to the doctor until he is 8 weeks old. If I had to guess, I would say he is about 9 lbs.

We love our little man!!

Things I am Thinking...

(This post has been edited from its original version. Thanks to Gretchen who so kindly pointed out that I had aged my son by a few months. Thanks friend!! I really do need some sleep!)

*I am super tired. I need sleep. Waking up to feed a beautiful, precious baby boy twice a night is rough for me.

*Kenny took a week of vacation last week so we went to the metroplex to visit family and friends. It was a great trip. However, I feel like I need another vacation to recoup from the vacation.

*While on that trip my one and only $700-ish camera was taken while we were staying at a very nice hotel in the town where my in-laws live. (How is that for being non-descriptive as to not give away where my in-laws live or the name of the very nice hotel we were at??) Needless to say, I am extremely sad and disturbed that someone could and would do that. I have a very special family member who has let us borrow a camera until we can buy a new one...so hopefully some pictures will be coming soon.

*Grayson is precious. I can't imagine life without him! He is sleeping well, eating well (except for the occasional projectile vomit...sorry if TMI), he is starting to smile and coo at us as well. He was 5 weeks yesterday!

*Kennan and Brayden are fantastic big siblings. They adore their little brother and can't keep their hands off him. Kennan always wants to hold him...usually at inconvenient times, like when he is eating. Brayden rushes to his side and announces "I right here! I right here!" whenever he makes a peep.

*Kennan turned 5 a month ago, but we are having his party this weekend. He has requested a space party so that is what he is getting, although I am still not too sure what it will entail. Because we have been talking about Kennan's party so much, Brayden has decided she is going to have a princess and Max&Ruby party (yes, her birthday is still 4 months away...try explaining that to a 2 year old).

*Hopefully I will start blogging more soon. I need to convince myself that it is okay to not have big, detailed, picture-filled posts all the time...

The End.

My 3 Loves!

Today was Kenny's day off so I enlisted his help in getting some pictures of the kids. We dressed them up in their Easter outfits and headed up to the church to get some pictures. Who would have known how hard it is to get 3 children to look in the same direction with happy looks on their faces?

Grayson will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. He changes everyday and is becoming so much more alert. We took him to the doctor last week and he was 8 lbs 2 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. The doctor gave him a great report!! Grayson is a great baby. He is pretty laid back and doesn't cry much. Grayson is adored by his big brother and big sister (and mom and dad too!).
Brayden is now 2 1/2 years old...going on 16. She is a wonderful big sister and a great help! Brayden continues to keep us on our toes and there is never a dull moment when she is around. She is extremely talkative and understands way more than a 2 year old should!
My sweet Kennan turned 5 years old on March 16. I cannot believe I have a 5 year old who will be in kindergarten next year! Kennan is a wonderful big brother. When he first met Grayson he was pretty stand-offish...but now we can't keep him away!

Grayson's Big Day!

Disclaimer: This is a "How Grayson came into this world" post. If you don't like details...I would recommend you return in a few days for a new post. Otherwise, keep on reading!

The night before Grayson was born Kenny and I spent the evening in the "big town" and ended up with iPhones. It ended up being a great (albeit expensive) thing because we were able to update family and friends throughout the day. Kenny discovered the notes section on his phone and took the following notes throughout the morning. His words/thoughts are in the reddish color and my added notes/thoughts are in black italics. Enjoy!

Arrived at the hospital at 4:50 am
Checked in at 4:55 am
Visited with nurse Paula until 5:30 am
Jen is tired [DUH!!]
Paula took blood at 5:50 am and put in the IV
Jen doesn't like the blood pressure cuff [That thing is terrible! They need to come up with a better way to take blood pressure]
Started Potocin at 6:20
Nurse change at 7:10 am
Dr Davis came by at 7:50 am and broke Jen's water
Jen was having consistent contractions and decided to get an epidural at 8:30 am
Jen has been eating ice chips. Thank God for the little things. [Side note: It was about this time that Kenny brought his phone over to me to ask my opinion on some flashlights. You see, the night before we were at Target discussing how we needed some new flashlights. We both agreed we could probably find a better deal online. It just so happened that woot.com featured flashlights the day of Grayson's birth. Now everytime I look at those flashlights (which arrived the day after we got home from the hospital) I will think of my sweet baby boy.]
We have been texting and talking to friends and family.
The epidural is wearing off [Epidural? What epidural? It stops working so they give me the button to push to make more medicine go through. Not working. Not cool.]
At 10:15 Jen was at an 8
The epidural is officially not working.
The anesthesiologist gave Jen more medicine at 10:47 am [Didn't go as planned. Medicine did nothing. Absolutely nothing.]
Jen's cousin Laura came by with Brinley and visited for about ten minutes [Then I decided something wasn't right and baby might be coming.]
Around 11:10 the nurse said Jen was at a 10.
[Then the worst pain imaginable came. Contractions were every minute and Grayson had moved onto my sciatic nerve. I felt completely out of control and the pain was unbearable.]
[The nurse had me push through 2 contractions which was the hardest thing I have ever done considering the pain in my back. Thankfully, those 2 pushes made Grayson move off my nerve.]
She had someone call Dr. Davis and told Jen to stop pushing.
Jen was miserable for the fifteen minutes it took for Dr. Davis to get here. [Miserable is an understatement.]
When the doctor was ready it only took six pushes through two contractions for Grayson to come out.
Grayson is beautiful. He doesn't have a cone head because he came so quickly, but he has lots of busted capillaries for the same reason. The nurses call it a slam dunk delivery. [Maybe he will be a basketball player? He was born during March madness...]

So there you have it. Grayson's birth story from the hubby's point of view and my side comments.

Grayson Benjamin is Here!

After what the doctor and nurses called a "slam dunk delivery" Grayson Benjamin made his arrival at 11:33am on Tuesday, March 9. He weighed 8 lbs and was 20 1/4 inches long. Because he came so quickly, his face was a little bruised and he has busted capillaries on his face and neck (not sure of the medical term). It is already going away and he looks great! We are home and everyone is doing great...despite the sleep deprivation! Here are some pictures to hold everyone over until I can do a more detailed post.

March 9th is THE day!

I am writing this from a hotel lobby so no pictures...but...there will be a baby tomorrow! I had my 39 week appointment this morning and the doctor said he could induce or let Grayson come on his own. I am pretty miserable and with 2 other kiddos to worry about, induction sounded great! Kenny and I are in the "big town" and the kids are back in our town with a very dear friend. I think they are more excited about having a sleep over tonight than meeting their brother tomorrow! We have an early morning (have to be at the hospital at 5am) and the doctor seems to think it will go quickly! Next post: all about Grayson Benjamin!

A Sure Sign Spring is on the Way...

A brother taking care of business on the tree...
and a sister (unsuccessfully) attempting to do the same...
We are loving this beautiful day! The rest of the week looks to be as nice so hopefully we will be enjoying the great outdoors!

Still waiting for Grayson to make his debut...I have 10 days until my due date so it could be any day now!

37 Weeks (almost!!)

Tomorrow marks 37 weeks of Grayson being in my tummy. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and had an ultrasound. He looks great and is already measuring 7 lbs 1 oz. This totally blows my mind (I do know they can be off a few ounces) because I have never had a baby this big!!

When Kennan was born he weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and he was 3 days late.
Brayden was 9 days early and was 6 lbs 13 oz.
The doctor thinks Grayson will probably be in the low 8's.

I keep wondering who he is going to look like. Is he going to have hair? (the ultrasound showed some) Will he have blue eyes like the kids and me or brown like his daddy? The kids are getting pretty excited about meeting him...or maybe they are more excited about the fun things they are going to get to do when he is born. We've told them they will go swimming at the hotel pool and get to go to Chuck E Cheese with the grandparents.

How am I doing? I am thrilled that I lost a pound over the last 2 weeks!! Makes up for the ton I gained the month before that. I am pretty uncomfortable with lots of lower back pain which makes sleeping pretty much non-existent. Here's to hoping for a February baby!

Sheer Exhaustion

The title of this post sums up this picture...
and pretty much everyday we spend with our sweet girl. She is so full of energy and if you spend any time with her, it is a guarantee that you will pass out like this too! This picture was taken last night. Kenny laid her down after numerous warnings to listen and obey had failed. He gave her a few minutes to read in bed before coming back in to turn off the lights. He left her room at 7:04pm. This picture was taken at 7:12pm. Enough said.

Brayden is officially 2 1/2 years old (as of the 2nd day of February) but she wishes she were 4. She desperately wants to go to "school" with her friends so that she can be the snack friend and go to chapel. I am ready for her to go to school too (I can say that, right?) but know deep down that only means she is growing up right before our eyes!

Like I've said in every other post about Brayden, she adores Kennan. She wants to do everything he does...
as seen in this picture! Most days they play pretty well together and she doesn't know it yet, but she is going to miss him when he starts kindergarten next year. Kennan has started to call her "sissy" instead of sis or sister and I think it is pretty cute (maybe because that is what my brother used to, and sometimes still calls me!).

Brayden LOVES her friends. This is Tristan...
and whether Tristan likes it or not, Brayden is convinced that it is in her cards to marry this sweet boy. The other night Kennan and Brayden were going to sleep and the topic of marriage must have come up. Brayden came running out of the room asking "Mom, who I gonna marry?" I answered that I think she will need to wait until she is a lot older before she needs to worry about getting married but that God already has a special boy picked out for her. She responded, "Well, I gonna marry Tristan." Maybe God has spoken to her? Or it is her crazy fantasies about marriage? I would venture to say that the topic of marriage comes up at least every other day in this house.

In the last few weeks I have come to the conclusion that Brayden might become an actress or musician when she grows up. She seems to have a flair for anything dramatic. Her new favorite movie is the Sound of Music and she LOVES to dance around the house singing the songs word for word after hearing them...oh...about 50 times! She loves to dress up and pretend as seen in this picture...
Not a day goes by that this sweet thing doesn't test our patience....
but we wouldn't have it any other way. Her favorite word is "no" and she doesn't seem bothered by the negative consequences that follow her actions. Punishments don't faze her and the phrase"She'll learn her lesson" doesn't seem to apply to Brayden. I love her strong willed spirit and am hoping that she will hang on to it as she grows into a teenager and young woman.

Brayden is going to be an excellent big sister. We will have to make sure she is never left alone with him...she might smother him! She loves to take care of her babies and has the sweetest "talking to babies" voice. She already has plans to teach him how to talk and play soccer (which she has never played a day of in her life). She daily talks about how she is going to hold him and play with him...I can't wait to see them together!

I figured that with Grayson arriving in a few weeks there are going to be a lot of posts devoted just to him. So...here's to Brayden. The sweetest, most energetic, strong willed little 2 year old I know!

35 Weeks!

Over the last week we have gotten around a foot of snow...I am pretty sure we have gotten more snow here than we ever saw while living in New Jersey! The kids loved playing in it!
Ready for sledding...although Kenny said she preferred to go down on her bottom and not on the sled! The other morning before work Kenny helped the kids make "Roby" the robot out of some old cardboard boxes. They had a great time! We've made it to 35 weeks! Only 5 more (or maybe less?) left! The other day Brayden wanted to look at my belly to see if she could see baby Grayson. I told her we would have to wait a little while longer before we could meet him. She then suggested, "We get some scissors?". I quickly got that idea out of her head and will make sure all scissors are out of her reach and that I sleep with one eye open at night!!

I am in the uncomfortable stage...not sleeping well at night and having a few contractions here and there. My 36 week appointment is on the 15th and we will have an ultrasound and then I'll go over to the hospital for my pre-admit appointment. I guess that means we are getting close!
