While Daddy is Away...

The kids and mommy will play!

We did a little sculpture painting...
and body painting.
Grayson did a lot of this...
We played beauty shop outside...

And did some digging...
And had some fun with the self-timer on the camera...

Brayden took this one...
And Kennan took this one...
And we did some dancing...
The kids love the music from Despicable Me!

Kenny took the youth group on a ski trip this weekend. They had a great time and he should be pulling into town in the next few hours. We missed him, but had a good time while he was gone. Kennan and Brayden are healthy but Grayson is still on the mend. Not too sure what is wrong with him, but I am ready for him to feel better!

So Proud!

Kennan is learning lots in kindergarten. His favorite thing to do is to....
READ!

He read this book all the way through the other night and only needed help with the words
after, Constantinople and Timbuktu!

Sick of Being Sick

"Rigoulot Party of 5, your exam room is now available."
That's what I felt like they should have said when I took Brayden to the doctor this morning. Really it was just me and her that went, but we all could have gone to be checked out...Kenny would have just been along for the ride.

Sweet girl has had a fever for the last 48 hours, an occasional tummy ache and that's about it. They tested her for the flu but it was negative.
She is sick of being sick.
Grayson has thrown up a few times in the last 24 hours and now has a fever.
He is sick of being sick.
Kennan spent all of last night and this morning throwing up. He seems to be better and never got a fever. Hopefully he will head back to school on Thursday.
He is sick of being sick (but did get some time on the wii while he was home today!).

(No pictures of a sick mom...sorry)
I've been nauseous and have had a headache for the last 24 hours. I'm hoping that's behind me now. I'm sick of being sick.

Kenny is fine. Healthy as a horse. In fact, he ran 8.5 miles yesterday. He's been taking care of us and is hoping he won't get sick either. He's sick of us being sick!

It seems like this happens a few times a year. Everyone gets sick and it takes awhile to get better again. What do you do to try and keep your family healthy?

A Makeover

No, not a makeover for me...rather for Kennan and Brayden's room!! We bought them bunk beds a few weeks ago and felt like it was finally time to do something to make their room more colorful and "homey" feeling. We've been in this house for 2 1/2 years so I think it was about time!

Here's a before of part of the room...
Kenny and I toyed with the idea of painting their room some type of green color, but then I decided I wasn't ready to commit. So, we enlisted the help of the kids to paint some canvases to put on the walls. I bought 4 colors of paint that match the colors in their bedspreads and put them to work!

They loooved it!
I bought a $4 twin sheet that matched the green in their bedspreads and turned it into a valance. Here's how...
I cut it into a manageable size to work with. Then I took it to their window and measured how low I wanted it to hang. (Don't I have the cutest helper?)
Then I folded it in half so that it would be a little thicker and not quite as see through (it was a cheap sheet, you know!). Then I went to work with my iron on hem tape and iron...

After I got it hemmed down I cut off the extra so that it was a little shorter than the front side...so you can't see my uneven cut!
Then I had Kenny put sticky velcro squares on our existing blind valance.
I hung the new valance up with the opposing velcro pieces stuck onto the fabric and just matched it to the ones Kenny had hung.
Finished! I know it isn't sturdy and definitely homemade...but I know that the kids won't mess with it and it should last for awhile (I hope!!!).
Then I put up some plastic hooks and twine to make my own art clothesline. I painted the clothespins the same colors as the ones the kids painted with.

Here's the finished room!

We made this area into a reading corner...
We also got a new dresser to go with the new bed...

When it was all said and done, we spent about $55 to decorate their room...about the same as 2 gallons of paint. I'm thinking this was definitely the way to go! The kids love it! And so do we!

Cute

A certain blog reader, ahem...mom, has been hinting that I haven't updated lately. So, I've got 2 posts for you tonight...mom. Let's just start with these cuties!

I guess I might be a little biased, but I think these are 3 of the cutest kids ever!
